Women’s Safety and Empowerment: Self-Defense Workshop was held on March 12th, led by Erik Ceunen and Evangelina Saltouridou. The session brought together students for an introduction to practical self-defense techniques, combined with a broader focus on awareness and personal safety.
Throughout the workshop, participants were introduced to a range of fundamental techniques designed to be applicable in real-life situations. The session emphasised not only the physical aspect of self-defense, but also the importance of situational awareness, quick decision-making, and maintaining confidence in unfamiliar or potentially unsafe environments.

In addition to the technical component, the session created space for open discussion around women’s safety. Participants were encouraged to think critically about everyday scenarios, share perspectives, and reflect on how awareness and preparation can play a role in feeling more secure. By combining guided practice with explanation, the workshop ensured that participants understood both how and when to apply what they were learning.
